It’s not all doom and gloom in the employment market in 2012

With all of the doom and gloom in the press about the state of the economy and the employment market, we thought that we’d run some searches to see how easy it is to find news of companies expanding in 2012.

We found IT Jobs available in Southampton with hosting company Peer1 doubling headcount (from 30 to 60).
Also in the news we found plans from Travelodge to recruit 1,000 additional members of staff, with the opening of over 40 new hotels in the UK,  Boots are also looking to recruit over 600 staff and Energy broker Inenco Direct are to create approaching 100 new jobs as part of a major expansion programme.

From an IT Recruitment agency perspective, the start to 2012 has been steady for CV Screen, with a similar number of vacancies registered in the first 3 weeks of 2012 to 2011. We have been a little surprised that there hasn’t been more applications coming through to our roles as the “New Year, New Career adage not materialising as yet.

It’s clear that it is still very difficult for many to secure employment and it is likely that those with secure jobs will continue to sit tight, meaning fewer vacancies for those currently unemployed.
